Lea Hill Country Cottages

Beautiful self-catering cottages and apartments lovingly cared for by the resident owners,. Lea Hill Cottages overlook a hidden Devon valley and command stunning views of woodland and meadows. Rest and relax in the well kept grounds and gardens and the spacious Hot Tub.

Lea Hill lies in eight acres of grounds and gardens . All the facilities you need are here in a perfectly tranquil setting. Remote, yet within easy reach of the Devon market town of Axminster. We are a short stroll from the friendly, pretty village of Membury ( one of a handful of English parishes still celebrating the tradition of Oak Apple Day in May.) Walk to Membury Castle one of several impressive iron age hill forts in this historically rich area. History and nature abound. Borrow our binoculars to view the abundant birdlife or encounter shy deer in our copse.

Visit Axminster, a small Devon town, quiet but with many hidden gems. Enjoy a range of eating places including the River Cottage shop and canteen or visit the historic Minster church with its summertime season of concerts.

Venture further afield and we are an ideal centre for discovering a delightful, unexplored corner of Devon bordering both Somerset and Dorset. To the North the quiet roads and charming villages of the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural beauty, the Somerset levels and Vale of Taunton. Or to the South lie the Devon coastal towns of Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton and the historic port of Lyme Regis in Dorset. Sand and shingle, rocks or promenades – there is variety enough at our World Heritage Site coastline to interest all ages – from Seaton's tramway along the wildlife- rich Axe estuary to Charmouth's visitor centre and fossil hunting.

Comfortable self catering cottages. All are furnished and equipped to high standards. Quakers and Kingfisher are let exclusively by the owners and are graded Visit Britain ****. These two properties also participate in the Green Tourism Business Scheme – awaiting grading. They are non smoking.
Bed and Breakfast B&B is available from November to Easter. Delicious breakfasts and comfortable rooms.

The very essence of Lea Hill is its tranquillity. The property's prominent hilltop location commands stunning views over a hidden valley of woodland and meadows.

Lea Hill lies within eight acres of secluded grounds which combine relaxation with recreation. The Hot Tub, surrounding countryside walks and peaceful setting allow guests the opportunity to escape the pace of everyday life.

The main building is a prime example of a thatched Devon Long House, with parts dating from the 14th Century when it was a medieval farmhouse.

Close by are an ancient Quaker burial ground and a Meeting House, given by Lea Hill's Quaker owners during the 17th and 18th Centuries.
